About

I am an outdoorsy person. Obviously, because I love nature.

Mountain hiking, camping, traipsing in forests, wading in fresh water, watching sunset at the seaside, etc., name it, I might have done it as long as it has something to do with nature. Because of this, I decided to create a free blog just to chronicle my experiences. I became aware of how powerful blogging is in informing other people about my escapades. I am happy that I am helping people know about such places. Later on, I also tried exploring caves.

I was introduced to subterranean exploration when I visited Sibud-Sibud cave in Abra. Since then I was in love with these natural underground wonders. Unlike mountain hiking niche which has hundreds of dedicated blogs (e.g., you can search most mountains to climb in a single site), local spelunking is yet an obscure niche. This gave me an inspiration to create a site fully dedicated to local caves.

It became my baby project.

In my desire to give quality content, I decided to create a site with personalized domain name, proper website hosting, SSL certificate, site security and management plug-in, etc.  I wanted it to be flexible and without the limitations of a free blog.

In my quest to create a niche of Philippine caves and subterranean rivers for local tourists, I later was faced with the dilemma of probably ditching it for several reasons after publishing several blog entries. Probably, the two most compelling reasons are, one, I was about to go out of the country again for my job, and two, I cannot possibly go around the country for caves as it is very costly.

I was already thinking of taking down my blog.

Weeks before going abroad, I decided to continue my blog but with images from other sources. Luckily, this has been answered by embedding social media posts and using images with permission from original sources.

I have been to just a small portion of caves in the country but I am already in awe with these subterranean wonders. Also, I already have a nice working site waiting to be filled with more caves around the Philippines. It will take time, it will be slow. But I will continue.

Tara! (Let’s go!) Explore. Because its more fun in the subterranean wonders of the Philippines!
